civil 3D cross sections-wish list

civil 3D cross sections-wish list

civil 3D cross sections-wish list

(OP)
this has been in my wish list for a while now, regarding cross sections. i want the proposed ground cross section line to physically stop when the proposed hits existing. currently, when i do multiple section views, a lot of them have proposed section right on top of existing section (because there is no grading in those areas), or they have parts of the proposed section right on top of the existing sections (because there may be proposed cut which eventually comes bask to existing). when i ask Civil 3D to generate cross sections for existing and proposed surfaces, it does it for the entire sample line length, thereby giving overlapping cross sections! i have not found out a way to clip proposed cross section lines at existing cross section lines, without losing the intelligence if dynamic elements (without exploding and trimming, in other words); if anyone else has found a solution, i would REALLY appreciate if you share it!

RE: civil 3D cross sections-wish list

Are the prosposed cross sections transverse(or perpendicular) to the traverse line or are you referring to elevation views? Also, You are saying that you can not move the proposed cross sections adjacent to the existing? You should also be a bit more technical as to the meaning of " entire sample line length".
As far as "clipping" the proposed  3D cross section, try using the modifying command "separate".
