Design Table File Locations and cross linking

Design Table File Locations and cross linking

Design Table File Locations and cross linking

(OP)
I am a little confused on this subject.  Even though I name my design table when I do a save as, it opens as book1 when I open it from the model.  When I do a search for the excel file that I named it is no where to be found.  Can someone tell me the file path where SW stores the design tables?  Also, is it possible to have two design tables open at the same time (different parts) so I can make cells in one equal to cells in the other table?

Thanks much,
BB

RE: Design Table File Locations and cross linking

A DT is saved within the SW file it was created in. A separate copy of the DT is only created when the Save Table option is used, and will be saved to whichever directory is selected.

Note that the saved copy is just that ... a copy. It is not the active DT the part will use.

A separate Excel spreadsheet can be used as a reference or 'master' for DTs in other parts or assys, but an internal DT will still be saved within the SW part.

Thanks CBL for the detailed explanation.  I was really confused as to how this works.

Thanks again,
BB
