MH lamps harmonics

MH lamps harmonics

We have a site with metal halide lamps connected and after current measurements, we found that the 3rd and 5th harmonics are about 13% meanwhile harmonics 11 and 13 are more than 30%.

As all know, lamps are connected as single phase loads at 277VAC for total load of 6kVA per each phase (480 VAC).

Could please indicate what will be the more appropriate harmonica mitigation solution.

RE: MH lamps harmonics

What actual problems are the harmonics causing?

Mainly cable heating, that was detected by the client's electrician ( wiring by trays). However, the installation is working well, cable capacity was checked (derating included) and is more than the rms value measured and CBs did not trip, but the client is concerned about the heating effect.

thanks
