simple question about valve types.
simple question about valve types.
(OP)
I am looking for an idiot proof valve. Basically I would like to be able to press a button and have a valve open for a specific time. Say 1 second. No matter how long or short you press the button it still only stays open for 1 second.
I know I could do this with a solenoid valve and some simple circuitry but I would like to eliminate the need for electricity.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

So you are looking for a device with a timer that does not use electricity...?
Something like those new automated valves that we find in bathrooms ?
How precise do you need the actuation time to be ?

Surely a neater way to do this would be to have a small receiver connected via a changeover valve either to your gas supply or to your destination.
If your destination container is closed (you hint at pressurisation), then wouldn't a pressure regulator be all you need?
