Cobble Plate
Cobble Plate
(OP)
For the oil well pump jacks we manufacture, we have counterweights flamecut from steel plate. Whenever a question is asked about what material they should be cut from, the answer usually given is that nothing better than Cobble Plate is necessary. The requirement on the drawing is simply 1-1/4" Flat Steel. They are usually cut from CQ or Max 33. No one seems to be able to accurately define Cobble Plate and my searches have revealed many people who sell Cobble Plate, so I am guessing it is a real product, not just a cute notion from our people. Any suggestions of where to look for a description of Cobble Plate would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

I have two metallurgical and steel making dictionaries and neither defines cobble plate.
The last I saw purchased was from these people you might give them a call as they mention using cobble plate for CQ plate.

Oh, and yes unclesyd, Eddie Kane Steel is a fine company. They have been supplying our counterweights for several years. The orange here http://www.eddiekanesteel.com/8.html is our product, and I am always happy to refer any one to them. But for all our years of working with EKS Cobble Plate has never been discussed.
