PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN

PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN

PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN

(OP)
For a drain vessel design (ASME SEC VIII, Div 1) there are 2 vertical pumps to be mounted on 2 nozzles (650 mm dia) on top of this horizontal vessel. Is any special consideration to be given in the vessel design for the pumps coming on top of the vessel?

RE: PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN

Yes, per UG-22(c).

jte Thanks for your quick reply. I am working with PVelite (also new to PVelite). My understanding is to get the inputs (forces & moments by the pump) from pump manufacturer and these values to be entered in WRC analysis to get the results. Is it ok?

RE: PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN

Yes, you have to enter the pump loads for the nozzle design in PV Elite. Make sure to use '-F' axial force.
Cheers,
