Wilson Rockwell Hardness Tester Weight Set

Wilson Rockwell Hardness Tester Weight Set

Wilson Rockwell Hardness Tester Weight Set

(OP)
We have an old Model 3JS, for which we've lost the 30T and 45T weights. Wilson/Instron can no longer supply, but I see some offered online by 3rd parties. Question: can I fabricate my own weights? I would need the actual weight of the 30KGF and 45KGF weights. I know the instrument could not be calibrated or certified using home-made weights, but these other weights would be useful to us nonetheless.

RE: Wilson Rockwell Hardness Tester Weight Set

As I recall some of the machines used a multiplier, so the 30kg weight isn't actually 30kg.  You need to either buy third party weights or take the weights that you have and see what they weigh.  Then you can figure out the multiplier.

Instron/Wilson let me know that the additional weights should weigh 600g each. I've purchased a hardness test block and find that I am in spec on the 15T scale, but need 660g additional (not 600g) to get an acceptable reading on the 30T scale. Any thoughts out there?
