I can't seem to find the thread of the colleague looking for papers/information on geotechnical engineering philosophy.  Maybe I'm having a Sr. moment.  I had suggested Steven Vick's book.  Ran across the following article today and thought it right up the alley:

I received a copy at the DFI meeting in Colorado Springs and was looking for a way to get this out to some local Engineers.
