Exported geometry from Solidworks as an ACIS (.sat) file.
Tried to import it into AutoCAD, got the message above.
Same results from both AutoCAD 2008 and 2009.

Not one damn clue given by AutoCAD about what it doesn't like about the file.

Generated a 3D box in AutoCAD, exported as .sat file.
Compared that to the file produced by Solidworks.  Of course they are very different sizes, but the format seems similar.

No, I don't have MDT, so I can't import an iges file.

Any other ideas?

RE: "Command: _import Unable to read the ACIS file.."

Mike, when you export ACIS files from Solidworks, check the Options in the Save As dialogue.  You might have better luck if you lower the Version number to 16.0 or 14.0, and can specify the format as Solid/Surface geometry or 3D Curves.

Had to go back to ACIS Version 7.0.
