Relief Valves on Deaerator

Relief Valves on Deaerator

Relief Valves on Deaerator

(OP)
We have a liquid service relief valve on the steam dome of our deaerator.  I've been asked to determine whether a steam or liquid one should be used.

Couple of interesting notes from various sources.

Excerpts from OEM manual -

1)  Relief valver UNO should be a sentinel type.
2)  Steam lines should have their own protection

from an online source "the
deaerator may be provided with a relief valve capable of passing a limited amount of steam to provide a
warning that the deaerator is receiving excessive energy input"

So two questions - if there's no real mechanism of overpressure from the aerator itself and both inputs (water and steam) are protected - what circumstance am I sizing it for and secondly should it be a type for liquid or steam?
