1 KV Wind Generator problem

1 KV Wind Generator problem

(OP)
Hello all,

We was rewound some synchronous 1KV wind generators and due to the high peak voltges the stator windings are failling.

The winding's analysis of the generator`s manufacturer reports that our job was good but ...........
1.The insulation thickness is not sufficient for Inverter fed winding.Overhang of phase insulation and is not sufficient for a inverter fed winding, it should be > 8 mm( 0.8 mm ?)
2.Leading out no protected with sleevings
3.The outlets from coils are not shrink wrapped to the winding end to provide more mechanicall fixture
4. The level for the varnish impegnation is not the standard quality for 1LA8 machines.
5. The Round wire with unknown insulation type,  on surface there is probably diffusion barrier wich is not wettable/hydrophilic during the process of impregnation.
I would like to know if some one have a very good procedure including recommended materials to  wind inverter proof this kind of wind  generators.

Attached you will find the wire specs.

Thanks in advance fr the feed back and comments.

Regards

Petronila

RE: 1 KV Wind Generator problem

Any motor shop that winds large motors (high voltage) should be able to answer the questions you are asking. The manufacturer is finding all the stuff that we did as standard requirements when we rewould high voltage motors. The varnish should be done in a vacumm/pressure tank. This uses vacumm to remove all air pockets and pressure to force the varnish back into the voids. When baked in the oven, this will stabilize the windings and the wrapped windings going to the motor head will be very strong.

Hope this helps

Mike

RE: 1 KV Wind Generator problem

I use VonRoll Isola's  corona resistant round wire called CR 200 for inverter fed machines. The slot and end winding phase seperation require H class pure Nomex and a H class impregnating varnish. If you have VPI tank, nothing like it.

RE: 1 KV Wind Generator problem

Hi,
These suggestions aren't necessarily for inverter duty but they are things that we try to do when winding 2400 volt random wound motors.

If the slots are open convert to form coils.
If you have the room, use glass over film wire.
Double the slot liner.
Double the phase insulation
Tape the coil ends or put phase insulation between each coil.
Give it two VPI treatments (or dip and bake, then VPI)

Thanks

Thanks all or the info,  Edison could you provide me data sheet of the magnet wire.

Thanks

Look for 'Thermex CR 201 Round' in the product search of page @

http://www.vonroll.com.

They will send by e-mail.
