Journal Bearing cross-coupling coefficients in Abaqus/CAE

Journal Bearing cross-coupling coefficients in Abaqus/CAE

Journal Bearing cross-coupling coefficients in Abaqus/CAE

(OP)
I am modelling Journal Bearings in Abaqus/CAE. I am using the Springs/Dashpot in the Interaction Module for my direct bearing stiffness coefficients and damping coefficients. Now, my problem is how to use the cross-coupling coefficients. Can anyone help me how to model the cross-coupling coefficients along with the normal coefficients please.

Thanks

This is what I got from SIMULIA Support:

This is not possible for SPRING/DASHPOT, but is for CONNECTORS.

Cross -coupling stiffness for connectors can be specified by providing the relevant values of the individual components of spring stiffness matrix in your problem. Please refer to Section 26.2.2, "Connector elastic behavior," of the Abaqus User's manual (v6.8) for more details.

Similarly coupled viscous damping behavior for connectors can be specified by providing the relevant values for the individual components of damping coefficient matrix. Please refer to Section 26.2.3, "Connector damping behavior," of the Abaqus User's manual (v6.8) for more details.
