Methane POX Microreactor Question
Methane POX Microreactor Question
(OP)
Ok I have this partial oxidation microreactor and I want to flow 50% oxygen and 50% methane through it. The reactor is heated at 900oC and the flow is expected to be increased from 10sscm to 1000sscm.
it is made of 1/8 of an inch stainless tubing with 1/16 of an inch walls. As you might have guessed I am testing the reactor's capacity in Nm3/h of Hydrogen with a secret catalyst.

The question of the day is: Is it going to blow up? LOL
Anyone know how I can determine that...

RE: Methane POX Microreactor Question
See link below. You may need to redesign the experiment to avoid the flammable range which is around 2-60% methane in oxygen. Any foreign material, like a bit of grease, inside the reactor will burn even around 30% oxygen and likely destroy the reactor. After handling oxygen, don't step outside for a smoke, your clothes may catch fire.
