Lower Oil Separation Grease for Gearbox Design

Lower Oil Separation Grease for Gearbox Design

Lower Oil Separation Grease for Gearbox Design

(OP)
I have a situation similar to thread89-45878: Nylon/Acetal gear lubricant choices? except I have a metallic gearbox with fine pitch metallic gears along with an electronics package which is weaping oil which has separated from the grease.  Operating temperatures are -40°C to +120°C, and speeds from 10,000rpm at the input to 100rpm at the output.  I have tried
MIL-PRF-23827 (Aeroshell 33) and MIL-PRF-81322 (Mobil 28 and Aeroshell 22) greases and all have objectionable oil separation.

Recommendations from thread89-45878: Nylon/Acetal gear lubricant choices? were:

1) silicone brake caliper grease--I prefer to stay away from silcone products due to contamination of electronics and soldering operations

2) thinner grease like NLGI 0 or NLGI 00--the specifications I've seen on these greases have higher oil separation due to temperature than the current Mobil 28/Aeroshell 22 NLGI 1.5.  Can anyone recommend a grease by name which is "...designed for use in gears with non-oiltight housings"?

3) PTFE thickened grease--like Exxon Mobil Unirex PF 500 are not compatable with the "standard" synthetic grease in our bearings and are only good to -20°C

What grease(s) would you recommend for this application?

I'd call up Kluber.
