Renaming Extrusion parameter name

Renaming Extrusion parameter name

Renaming Extrusion parameter name

(OP)
Hi,

I am trying to find a way to rename the extrusion parameter name in Solidworks 2008, and link it to another extrusion parameter name. I know how to rename sketch dimension parameter names (for ex. D1@Sketch1 to ArmLength@Sketch1), but cannot seem to find where I can rename the extrusion parameter name. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

RE: Renaming Extrusion parameter name

"extrusion parameter name" ?

Do you mean the name shown in the Feature Manager? If so, do a slow double click on the feature, or select the feature and hit the F2 key, and then rename.

No I mean take the name D1@Extrude78 for example. Now you can edit the Extrude78 portion of the name directly by double clicking it in the design tree, but how can you edit the D1 portion of the name?

RE: Renaming Extrusion parameter name

Do a fast double-click on the feature in the feature tree.  All of that feature's dimensions will show up on the screen - all dimensions from the sketch plus the feature's dimensions.  You can then rename the dimension just like you would any other.

RE: Renaming Extrusion parameter name

A single-click on the dimension also opens the Dimension Manager for editing. It's the same for any other dimension.
