performing a status inquiry on an off sie server

performing a status inquiry on an off sie server

(OP)
I am trying to use lmtools to perform a status inquiry on a server that is located on the other side of the sate.

When I perform the inquiry through lmtools, I get a message that the server is down or not responding. this is not the case, because I can open NX4 using the NX4 license on that server.

I have talked to GTAC and got no help. we ran some dos commands, and got the same results. I am able to ping the server and get it to respond. I have performed this kind of inquiry when I was on the same network as the server. I think there is something in the firewall that is locking out the lmtools utility. Does anyone now if lmtools communicates with port other than 27000?

IF anyone has any input or suggestions I would appreciate it.

RE: performing a status inquiry on an off sie server

Try going into the system settings tab and adding the ip address nodename etc or at least check that it matches what your using.

RE: performing a status inquiry on an off sie server

This works for me when monitoring license servers around the globe :

On the Server/License File tab, choose Configuration using License File and then specifiy the appropriate license file ie. 28000@servername

In that Server/License file tab, I pointed to the server address, 27000@....... I got the same warning.

When I go to the system settings tab, the information listed is for my machine, not the license server machine.

I am not able to point directly at the license file.

Attached is a snapshot of what I change.
