Thread specification

(OP)
I am making a drawing that calls for .750-40UNS thread. I would like to know what specification should I be referring to. I have looked at AS8879 and MS7742...this size is not listed.

RE: Thread specification

(OP)
Thanx. I looked in the document but since I didn't find the appropriate thread size in any tables, I thought there was no provision for my thread size. There is in fact coverage in the notes area. Thanx again

RE: Thread specification

I would add a referenct to the thread callout to the note were the thread is further defined.

RE: Thread specification

I would suggest ASME B1.1-2003 UNIFIED INCH THREADS is the most appropriate place to look.

There are some fairly detailed requirements on how UNS (S is generally interpreted as special i.e. custom/non standard) threads are to be specified.  Fortunately this has come up before: FAQ404-1480: How Do I Specify Unified Thread Form Custom Threads?

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of FAQ731-376: Eng-Tips.com Forum Policies recently, or taken a look at posting policies: http://eng-tips.com/market.cfm?
