I've applied a line load on the edge of a 2-D plate. The edge is a curved edge (in the form of an arc).

In the software,I use,the user need not mention the orientation of the line load--that is, I just set the load being applied over the LCS of the edge and direction (X,Y or Z).

Is the laod applied perpendicular to the edge of the slab?

However,if i have the edge in form of a circular arc,the laod does not appear perpendicular to the arc(edge) by visulaisation. How is the laod applied in actuality?

And the software you use that applies a line load to an arc would be?
