fatigue data
fatigue data
(OP)
I'm looking at fatigue data between casting alloy 356.0-T6 and wrought 7050-T451 plate. The problem is that some sources reference data from axial testing, while others use rotating beam testing.
Is it acceptable to compare data directly between axial and rotating beam fatigue testing? I haven't seen any reference that indicates that this is unacceptable (yet).
Thanks

RE: fatigue data
No. You need to use a correction factor. From the literature I have seen, it is stated as follows;
reverse bending loads 1.0
axial loads 0.7
torsional loading 1.0 (for use with effective stress only).
