ASME VIII Div. 2 nozzle MAWP calculation

ASME VIII Div. 2 nozzle MAWP calculation

ASME VIII Div. 2 nozzle MAWP calculation

(OP)
Dear all,

I have a doubt about nozzle calculation in ASME VIII Div 2.

For a radial nozzle in a cylindrical shell, for example, ASME gives a procedure for the calculation of its MAWP.

In the equation for Pmax2 (formulae 4.5.44) , ASME says that S is the allowable stress for the vessel. What is this stress, exactely? Is this the allowable stress of the nozzle material, cylinder material, or the smallest one?

Best regards,

Fabiano Rosa
