Not bad advice about saving a specific view just for the explosion, that way you do not have to manage the explosion state when adding the view to the drawing. But it works just fine without saving a dedicated view and personally, I find it easier to just toggle the explosion state rather than replacing views (I have used it both ways).

I hope that makes things clearer for those who seem to wavering back and forward about why to prefer one method to another. What I prefer to do is save the exploded view that I have created under a name that indicates that it is in fact used for a explosion, but I don't save a second view for the unexploded state because I know that I simply don't need to.
As an additional tip I also avoid using perspective on exploded views as the clipping plane issues can be annoying to maintain.
