Kockey pump or hidroneumatic system?
Kockey pump or hidroneumatic system?
(OP)
I´m working on a fire system for a plant and the point is that i´ve read in the NFPA about jockey pump and I do understand that jochey pump work to maintain the pressure in the pipe line.
So my doubt is about that in the project that I´m working they want to maintain the pressuere with a hidroneumatic system.
What dou think about it?

RE: Kockey pump or hidroneumatic system?
If you use a hydroneumatic system you will have to be very careful about the pressure cycles of the system in order to avoid unwanted fire pump starts. So jockey pump is a preffered system because it is easy to adjust settings.
Keep in mind that sometimes jockey pumps systems have problems were air pockets, heat from sun exposure on pipes, etc, are a problem to control pressure. Also the pressure sensing pipes that control the jockey and main pump must follow NFPA 20 requirements to avoid problems.
