Hole Wizard mods

Hole Wizard mods

Hole Wizard mods

(OP)
in SW2006.

I'd like to change the HoleWizard drawing callout for tapped holes. For instance, instead of 1/4-20 Tapped Hole, we'd like 1/4-20 Tap (the omitted part of SW's default note is a given)

Also, in the model itself, how can we add a default c'sink angle & diameter ("near" and "far side" when tapping thru) to the HW so that these values don't have to be entered in every occurance?
For instance, the 1/4-20 would have a c'sink angle of 82deg (ANSI std) and .265625 (1/64 over nominal) I realize that other sizes will need differing appropriate diameters.

I've read numerous old threads regarding adding to or modifying the *.mdb files that HW uses....but what program is used to open the file(s), and is this the correct file to be changing for this purpose?

RE: Hole Wizard mods

To change your hole callout format you need to change the hole callout format file. For the other, .mdb files are Microsoft Access Databases.

Look at modifying calloutformat.txt

RE: Hole Wizard mods

I noticed that some people were having trouble with the way solidworks calls out the number of instances in hole callouts. I had some trouble with this because the default display is 2X or <NUM_INST>X and we like to place the number of instances on the second line as TYP. <NUM_INST> PLCS. By editing the calloutformat.txt file you can add the appropriate text easily, but the 2X was still displaying. If you delete the two astrisks' in front of NO-NUMBER-OF-INSTANCES it disables the default instance count and you can call the instances out however you wish. This is something I just discovered and I'm unsure what other issues it may cause so use this at your own discretion.
