Can anyone direct me to a mfg of a wireless switch (xmitter and receiver)? The receiver simply needs to provide an output (high, low, or other measurable value)that indicates whether a signal is being transmitted or not. This needs to be low power without the need for FCC approval. It is in a non-critical application and only needs to transmit 50-100 feet indoors (shorter might be okay too). I would like small PCB systems but will consider building some of it with most being on an IC (can the antenna be incorporated on the PCB?) Thank you in advance.

RE: Wireless switch

Hi buzzp, consider modifying a baby monitor.  Replace the microphone on the transmitter with you detection switch, and replace the speaker on the receiver with your choice of indicator.

Duh! I overlooked the simplest things. Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Any garage door opener schematics on the internet? Besides the universal door opener modification. Thank you

RE: Wireless switch

Have you though of using an x-10 set up? You can get what you need at radio shack and its relatively inexpensive.

Have not thought of that but I will check into it. Thank you.

RE: Wireless switch

X-10 isn't exactly what I would call wireless.  Or at least the X-10 as originally introduced by Signetics about 20 years ago.  It is a power-line modem.  You have to plug it in.

RE: Wireless switch

X-10 does have wireless transmitters and receivers.  They are reliable, inexpensive, and readily available at your local radio shack.  They make a transmitter (battery operated, two channel) and receiver (plugs into a 110vac outlet) combo.  The receiver has a built in outlet.  Although I've never used them in an industrial environment, I have had very good luck with them at home.
