Universal Joint Mate Question

Universal Joint Mate Question

Universal Joint Mate Question

(OP)
Hi All,

Just trying to figure out the universal joint mate, but the help in 08 is devoid of information. Anybody have any link to instructions on how to use it?

Cheers

RE: Universal Joint Mate Question

The 09 help file isn't much better and the "What's new about this command" icon leads to the Hinge Mate! However, the very brief help for Universal Joint does say about all that's needed, apart from maybe specifying what you should or shouldn't select, although on 09 it looks like it will only accept relevant faces which is good.

On the  Property sheet, the Mate Selections box should contain a relevant cylindrical face for both the input and output shafts (you cannot select the components themselves). Of course, these components must be free to rotate and their axes must intersect for the mate (or the real thing to function).

Hope this helps.
