Dismantling of Tower (Column)

Dismantling of Tower (Column)

Dismantling of Tower (Column)

(OP)
We are in the situation of dismantling a 78ft high scrubber column and relocate to another area for service. The contractor suggests cutting the column in half due to limited road access. Q: Is this advisable, does we it need further examination after erection?

RE: Dismantling of Tower (Column)

Yes, it is possible and it should work, provided:
- You and the contractor have a good understanding of the requirements of NBIC, API 510, API 579 and ASME VIII and practical experience with this type of work. Otherwise, start gathering quotes for a new column...Don't forget the Insurance company.
Cheers,
