about relay in phase current

about relay in phase current

about relay in phase current

(OP)
in abb'S handbook it says" set motor relay in phase current to 0,58 In (rated current ) " so what does this "relay in phase current " mean??

RE: about relay in phase current

(OP)
i think it has something to do with line current  versus winding current??

RE: about relay in phase current

The winding current in a delta connected winding is 0.58x line current. If the O/L relay is inside the delta and not in the line then the reduction must be applied to ensure the motor is protected.

RE: about relay in phase current

It applies to conventional star-delta starter wiring where all six leads of the motor are brought out and the O/L relay is placed in the delta loop. It also allows a relay of smaller range to be used.
