Mating a solidworks part with a Rhino3D part...how?
Mating a solidworks part with a Rhino3D part...how?
(OP)
I have an helicopter cyclic controller model that I'm working on in SolidWorks. I have had to create the textured grip part in Rhino3D as a separate item. Does anyone have any idea of how I can mate the solidworks part with the rhino part? I've imported the rhino part into SW, but the only mate that is allowed is Lock.
Any suggestions?

Have you saved it as a SW part?
If you save it as a SW part, you should be able to create and use ref planes and axes.
Is it an imported body or imported surfaces?
Can you use the Feature Recognition module in SW?
RE: Mating a solidworks part with a Rhino3D part...how?
I just opened a Rhino .3dm part in SW and saved as a SW part.
This part is curved in two directions... nice, huh?
FeatureWorks will not allow me to recognize because it says the 'features are not supported by FeatureWorks", then it goes on to list Surface-Imported1, Surface-Imported2, etc...
So, to answer your final question - it's imported surfaces.
I'm going to play around with adding some axis to the models, you may have given me the solution... but for now... dinner with the family.
I'll let you know how I make out.
Shawn.
