Using HEC RAS Modelling for small Hydropower project

Using HEC RAS Modelling for small Hydropower project

(OP)
I am new on Hec-Ras and my company is interested in development of small hydroelectric project.
I have been assigned duty modelling of a river and small lake with fall. proposal is to put a small weir of 2 meter high to just maintane the level of water.

The task is how to model the river reache of almost 1 KM and lake  also.

I need step by step procedure to model the river and the lake to see the flooded area during PMF.
There is also littel hydrological data avaiable but we will get the data from other same catchment.

I will appreciate if some one can guide me proceduare or any material.

Thanks

RE: Using HEC RAS Modelling for small Hydropower project

First, to confirm your scenario:
You are planning to construct a diversion dam/weir and you need to determine the backwater from the weir upstream to a small lake.

A basic text book on open channel hydraulics will describe the direct/standard step procedure that is necessary to compute the water surface elevations.  The HEC-RAS manuals will provide guidance in the correct usage and coding of the model.  The manuals can be downloaded from the ACOE website http://www.hec.usace.army.mil/.

Good Luck.
