oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

(OP)
I could delete the cut feature, and then just extrude the original sketch, but I made a few feature patterns that will disappear when deleting the cut.

Is there a way to "convert" an extrude cut to an extrude boss ?

thanks,

Dan T

RE: oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

Maybe you could attache your pattern to other reference features.  Remove the pattern's references to the cut feature before deleting the cut, then reconnect as necessary.

I shudder to suggest this, but if you turn on Instant 3D you can just drag it.

Or use the negative dimension feature ... if you are using SW09.

RE: oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

I suggest fixing it properly, remove the cut feature and make it a project feature. Properly done models make less headaches in the future.

Less band-aids now, even fewer headaches in the future.

RE: oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

Ignore my suggestion; it only works on sketched entities, not feature extrude sizes. sad

RE: oops - extruded cut when I meant extrude boss

CBL,

I'm finding the negative dimension feature only seems to work in 2D sketches when the dimension is originally put in. I've yet to get one to work on an edit or in a 3D sketch. So far a pretty useless feature.

No not useless. I've used it several times this week alone. I've found it very handy when having to 'reverse' sketches.
