I wanted to know how do I explain in simple words the components in a tensor matrix for strain
Say my matrix is a{EXX EXY EXZ,EXY EYY EYZ,EXZ EYZ EZZ} ASSUMING SYMMETRY FOR
EXY=EYX
EXZ=EZX
EYZ=EZY

AND WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PLOT THEM in matlab.

exx is noraml strain (like tension) in the x-dir'n
exy is shear strain in the xy plane
exz is shear in the xz plane
