voltage regulator

voltage regulator

(OP)
anyone know a of a good voltage regulator circuit for a prototype generator? the output will be between 5-30 amps and 10-40v but could go up to 60v depending on rpm. Is it possible to start with a buck-boost ic and add transistors to handle the current? efficiency is the priority, any advice appreciated

RE: voltage regulator

Can you tell us anymore about the output specs of the generator?

I'm not sure if you're telling us the output of the generator or the output you'd like from the voltage regulator.  Can you give us both?

RE: voltage regulator

Is this another HO question?

RE: voltage regulator

????? What type of generator? How is the output controlled? What type of field?
Permanent Magnet field? My favorite voltage regulator for a permanent magnet field machine was a centrifugal fly wheight that shifted the rotating field out of the center of the stator windings to compensate for speed changes. Hard t do with integrated circuits but is illustrates the wide range of voltage control mechanisms that your vague question allows.
