I am designing a 17 ft buttressed retaining wall that also supports a residence.  Concerned about tip deflections, the retaining wall, footing and  buttresses have been modeled in STAAD.  With comfortable tip deflections for a flexible wood diaphragm, the preliminary design seems OK.  Contractor does not want to pour monolithically to save cost.  If a construction joint is made at the 10 ft ht, with two curtains of steel, will tip deflections change significantly with an induced crack, essentially?  

Please advice or guide to references.

No, construction joint has no influence on deflection.  Reinforced concrete is designed with the proviso that a crack can occur anywhere.
