Oil tanker degassing

Oil tanker degassing

Oil tanker degassing

(OP)
Hello all
I received a new project where i need to find out proper degassing time for oil tanker tanks. I have no experiece from oil tankers or any regulations which relates to oil tankers.

If I undestood right way, oil tankers need to be set gas-free state after tank cleaning ? Degassing will be done by using air blowers (air will be blowed to the tank and gases will be set out from outlet to the atmosphere) and tank hydrocarbon percent will be monitored manually from gas-outlet flow ?

Can anybody help me in this case and point out some regulations wich holds oil tanker degassing times and procedures.

Thank You

RE: Oil tanker degassing

The basic Concept is making the interior of any/all the ocean-going tanker's storage tanks completely free of 'any flammable/combustible gases & vapors'
Most probably the objective is some hotworks(gas cutting, welding or grinding and drilling activities) or human entry.
For human entry air purging to bring internal conditions fit for living humans will be additional requirement.
Hope this helps!

Best Regards
