Writing to serial port

Writing to serial port

I want to write a charactor string to the serial port on a mitsi PLC e.g an FX PLC to then be written to a GSM Modem, for example write a program to send a text message from the PLC via a GSM Modem when a alarm is generated ?

Any ideas please ??

RE: Writing to serial port

I recently performed the same task using a different PLC.  What is the model of the PLC you are using?

Probably be a Allan Bradley SLC 5/04

RE: Writing to serial port

You could use a 9300-rapm modem. Manufactured by Zypcom but sole and supported by Rockwell.  You program the messages in the modem to be sent to cell phone or whatever and only plc code is triggering the bit to dial out and the alm number.
