convert UG file of higher version to lower version

(OP)
Hello everybody, is there a way to convert UG file of higher version to lower version, say UG file of NX5 that can be open to NX4. Just hoping if somebody able to do.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Lang, Cge

RE: convert UG file of higher version to lower version

The way we do it here is export a step file and emport into the lower version. Our cmm dept can only work with nx3 so all our nx5 files we need to do this to.

Do a search on this thread, as this has been answered many times before (hint: No).

Exporting a Parasolid file is the easiest method, just select the NX version you want to export as.

But remember, the Export Parasolid approach will only allow the Solid and Sheet bodies to moved from a newer to an older version of NX.  NO curves, sketches, features, drawings, etc, will be included in the move.

RE: convert UG file of higher version to lower version

The solution, as has been pointed out, is to export from NX5 into a neutral file format (parasolid, stp, iges); however, this WILL NOT result in a true, parametric NX4 file, but in a dumbed down (but still usable) file.  Don't expect to open or import the resulting file into NX4 and be able to edit any parameters (because there won't be any).
Depending on the purpose of the translation, it should be sufficient.

Yes use STEP if possible and when you do look into the options to include as many data types as are available if you will later need to work with the files in NX-4.

Thanks guys for your time and all the replies. Perhaps STEP file is applicable to what I do.

Once again. Thanks.
