CIP Wall Control (Contraction) Joints

CIP Wall Control (Contraction) Joints

RE: CIP Wall Control (Contraction) Joints

Typical joints I place around 20 to 25 ft depending on wall thickness and reinforcing. I would try to avoid joints over openings, one reason so I wouldn't have a potential plane of differential movement in an EQ directly over a window or door.

RE: CIP Wall Control (Contraction) Joints

I usually place control joints in the 25 feet to 30 feet range. Construction joints would then be every other joint or 50 to 60 feet. If it is a exterior retaining wall, I also provide an expansion joint at every 4th joint or 100 to 120 feet.
