schema transmit file....error

schema transmit file....error

(OP)
I tried to open a part file this morning and got an error message that reads "Could not find schema transmit file". In many years of using UG, I've never seen this error message. I saved and closed the part file yesterday just like normal, and today it will not open. I've been searching GTAC for info and found many incident reports and solutions, but none that work for me. Is this a serious problem, or is there a simple work around, and does anyone know what causes this. Thank you for any info as I am sitting here dead in the water right now.

RE: schema transmit file....error

A 'scheme transmit' file is what is used to map the changes in the data structure when upgrading a file from an older version of NX to the latest version.  It's a sort of 'recipe' which tells the new software what and how to update individual data objects inside the older file so that it's compatible with the latest version of NX.  Generally the only time users see anything like this is when they attempt to open a NEWER file in an older version of NX since in that case there is NO scheme file since the old software knows nothing the newer version and so it doesn't know how to read what to it is now 'unknown' data.

If you claim that you just filed the part yesterday and this failed when you opened it today, unless you're now working on a system with an older version of software, I can't understand how you would get this message.

I would suggest that you contact GTAC directly and have them look at the file and any syslogs which got generated when you attempted to open the file.

I sent the file to GTAC and they said the same thing, that I must have been trying to open it with an older version of NX. We are using NX4.0.0.25, and that is the only version that we've had since we upgraded from NX2 a couple of years ago. GTAC had no problem opening the file with NX4.0.4.2. The time stamp on the file is when I last saved it, so there is no chance that someone else with a newer version opened it up and re-saved it. I ended up just starting over and re-modeling the part. I was almost done machining it, so I only had to make a couple of finnishing operations. It would be nice to know exactly what caused this to happen in case it ever happens again. I'll post an update if I hear anything more from GTAC.
