Cross Hatching Large Models
Cross Hatching Large Models
(OP)
I am running SolidWorks 2007, SP5.0. I have an arrangement drawing from a large model, with section views. I am customizing the cross-hatching by clicking on the hatch, and making changes in the hatch window.
As I do this, SolidWorks' memory usage goes up. Right now, I can update two cross-hatches. Then, I have to exit SolidWorks, restart it and reload the file and do two more.
My model has 4237 components, including 762 unique parts and 307 unique sub-assemblies. I have 249 top level mates.
Is anyone else familiar with this? Is this a bug?
Is there anything I can do about it?

It definitely sounds like a character builder!
RE: Cross Hatching Large Models
When I load my large file, SolidWorks is using 1.4GB. When I change my first hatch, the memory usage goes up to 1.8 or 1.9GB. My second hatch takes me to 2.3GB. It locks up on my third hatch.

No guarantees but, as a temporary workaround, maybe try MKN Memory Manager from http

My pagefile presently is 4095MB.
I do not have access to all the sub-assemblies and parts, so it is not possible to change everything at the part level. Also, a lot of the sub-assemblies have section views on their assemblies. I do not want to mess with the default part configurations.
I will have to ask our administrators about MKN memory monitor.
Thanks.
