API 682 plan apllication?

API 682 plan apllication?

API 682 plan apllication?

According API 682 flush plans, there are more than 70 of them? PLS can anybody can tell me which are the common use in chemical industry ?

RE: API 682 plan apllication?

This depends on the pumping liquid properties, concentration , solids percentage and its hazardous nature. Each seal flush plan have its unique purpose and it is better to leave it to the seal supply vendor for recommending appropriate seal flush plan and then U can review .

Thanks for your reply. I know I can get these information from my supplier, but as a novice, I do want learn some usable knowledge about mechanical seal. The 70's plans, it too many to be memorized.
Any advice, please let me know.

General mechanical seal knowledge:

Or I recommend the course titled "Sealing Systems" on the attached link if your company will allow you to take it. If you are dealing with mechanical seals on a regular basis, it would be worthwhile and is fairly inexpensive, provided you are close to one of the listed training locations.

it's very helpful. thanks for you information.

RE: API 682 plan apllication?

In my experience plan 53A is the most common plan i come across in the chemical industry.

A pressurised vessel used in conjunction with a double mechanical seal.  If more heat needs to be removed a cooling coil and finned tubing can be used.  A mechanical seal with a pumping scroll can be used if you have concerns over the thermal properties of your barrier fluid.

Your mechanical seal manufacturer should be able to guide you if you supply them with the correct product and process information.

RE: API 682 plan apllication?

You need the pumping ring for any dual seal with an external reservoir, piston pot, etc. (52, 53A, B, C); the fluid won't circulate on it's own.

RE: API 682 plan apllication?

If you walk into a refinery, Plan 11 and 62 are the most freuqent ones. For Fertilizer and Chemical Applicants, API Plan 53 and 54 are the common ones.

RE: API 682 plan apllication?

It is not a good idea to generalize.  I have seen the following API Plans:
11
52
53A, 53B, 53C
54
53B + 62 (Nitrogen quench to prevent icing on Ammonia)
11 + 62
02 + 62 (LP Steam)
Look at each application and apply the appropriate piping plan to provide long seal life
