Babcock Formula
Babcock Formula
(OP)
Can anyone give me the 'Babcock Formula' for steam pressure loss? I checked my copy of Babcock & Wilcox and Crane plus intternet searches, but no luck.

Here it is for your info;
Pressure Drop (PSI)= .000130W^2*L/pd^5 *(1+3.6/d)
Where:
W= Steam Flow Rate, lb/min
L = Length pf Pipe, ft
p =.0434 for 2 PSIG Steam
.0612 for 10 PSIG Steam
.0855 for 20 PSIG Steam
.1351 for 40 PSIG Steam
.1818 for 60 PSIG Steam
.2127 for 80 PSIG Steam
.2564 for 100 PSIG Steam
d= Inside diameter of Pipe, in.
Hope this helps
