scr/triac commutation
scr/triac commutation
(OP)
I built a single phase permanent magnet generator that needs to be commutated. It will operate at between 10-50v and 5-40 amps. I am starting from scratch as far as electrical commutation so please bare with me. I realize this could be more complicated then it appears but if anyone could steer me to the right components I'd greatly appreciate it. If I have a simple 2 pole generator what do I need to commutate it?

RE: scr/triac commutation
The easiest approach would be to use a simple dimmer. But that would leave you with a highly distorted waveform. It would help if you tell us a little more about your application and the power and voltage range of your generator.
