CSI front end characteristics question

CSI front end characteristics question

CSI front end characteristics question

(OP)
Should it be considered normal for a CSI drive to draw significant triplen and even harmonics?
We are seeing as much as 14-18% even harmonic distortion and 10% 3rd harmonics. Total harmonic distortion is like 35%.  The drive is running at about 50% of rated hp.

RE: CSI front end characteristics question

Even harmonics would suggest uneven firing of the SCRs (or other power electronics).

RE: CSI front end characteristics question

Is it safe to assume that this is current distortion, not voltage?

RE: CSI front end characteristics question

(OP)
The voltage distortion is about 2-3%. There is s small amount of characteristic notching in the voltage wave.

Neil
