Dielectric Fitting Installation

Dielectric Fitting Installation

Dielectric Fitting Installation

(OP)
I have a project with schedule 40 steel HW risers and 2" copper branch connections. The contractor installed the dielectric fitting between the bronze isolation valve and the copper branch line. I told him it should be located upstream, between the steel runout and the bronze valve.
Unfortunately, our spec mentioned installing the dielectrics between copper and steel. It did not mention the valve or talk about dissimilar metals.
My problem is that I can not find a written reference to how a dielectric fitting should be installed to help support my case. I have checked the fitting manufacturers data sheets and a number of pipefitters handbooks to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.
