Scale dimensions in SE 2D Drafting
Scale dimensions in SE 2D Drafting
(OP)
I have just started using SE. How can I scale a drawing to fit into a smaller sheet size without scaling the dimension values of the drawing itself?

RE: Scale dimensions in SE 2D Drafting
What you are asking should happen automatically with views generated from 3D data.
If you are working 3D then you want to put your geometry on 2D model view (about 1/2 down tool bar). You then create your drawing views where you dimension from that.

Graemewic, the best way to to work, would be to draw every shape in the 2D model view (if you don't see a tab at the bottom left then go to the View menu and check the 2d model view option) then when you want to put it on a sheet you will have to create a 2D model view (It's kind of a window showing all or some area of the model view you created) this view will enable you to scale the drawing to fit the sheet and insert every dimensions required.
I hope it helps

The problem with the 2d model sheet is that you can't see any of the dimensions and notes that you've applied.
I used the 2d model sheet for a wiring diagram but when we came to modify it we had exactly that problem - couldn't see any of the wire labels so we had difficulty relating the diagram to the marked-up drawing.

Note:
I always thought Retrieve Dimensions could only be used on Drawing View for parts only but it proves to be otherwise. Not sure if this available in the free version.
Hope this helps.
