Fluid Dynamics Frequency Equation

Fluid Dynamics Frequency Equation

Fluid Dynamics Frequency Equation

(OP)
Hi guys,

I have a small problem and iam trying to find a solution to, the solution would be the right equation that i should be using and hoping that some of you could lead me inito the right direction into finding it:

I am trying to create some water waves ontop of a water surface by using compressed air, through nozzles that are placed directly above the water surface. those waves that I am trying to create are extremely small, less 1mm in amplitude possibly, and I was wondering if there is an equation that could help me determine the Amplitude.
My givens, are the pressure at which the gases are supplied and will be applied at, the densities of the fluids, and the angle of the nozzles.

I really appreciate all of your help and hope to hear from you guys soon..

Thanks,
D

RE: Fluid Dynamics Frequency Equation

I wonder what's the windspeed and fetch needed for 1 mm waves?  Is that 1 mm trough to crest?  Would that be a 100 year storm by any chance? Any beach shoaling effect? smile  Sorry there ducatidd, couldn't help myself. <apologizing profusely>

Seriously, I don't think the ocean wave theories scale down that small.  Best to leave it here.

thanks guys, atleast this could direct me into the right path.
Thanks

I'll give cloa a star for you.

sorry but what's cloa?

RE: Fluid Dynamics Frequency Equation

cloa is the guy who answered your question.  BigInch is the guy who suggested giving him a star - you might want to do the same, if you feel he (and others here) hgave you some useful advice.

Google or search    "wave equation, small perturbation theory"
