Anyone here had success running SW2009 on Windows 7 Beta?

What did you have to do to get it to work?

cheers

RE: Windows 7 Beta and SW2009

Windows 7 baby! SW 09 will run on the windows 7 beta according to this thread.

Neowinian describes at the bottom of the first page:
'I think that the problem here is that somehow Visual C++ redistributable package did not install correctly, or the version that got installed is not right. after I've installed the correct package (vcredist 2005 sp1) everything worked ok!'

not sure which one, but it sounds like if you install after the SW install, you can run fine and dandy. I have not done this. I'm still putting back together my ASUS MOBO that crapped out and getting my home system back up, but have plans to...

Anna Wood found that un-checking the 'underline' function fixed the problem.

"Under Ease of Use, Keyboard, Toggle the setting Underline keyboard shortcuts. Now can open and save in SW2009, SP2"

The underline feature is a known source of instability for XP x64.

And from Ted Brown at http://forum.solidworks.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=22&threadid=17006

Quote:

It appears that if you disable sldfileopen.dll by renaming it sldfileopen.old or moving it to a different directory, Solidworks falls back on a different version of the save/open dialog and can save/open stuff fine.

I say "appears" because I haven't really tested it, so there could be some kind of horrible corruption bug or performance issue or other bad thing, but it no longer crashes immediately.

cheers

RE: Windows 7 Beta and SW2009

other than graphics issues with my Quadro, SW is running very well on build 7057.
