AVGAS viscosity

AVGAS viscosity

AVGAS viscosity

(OP)
I am looking for information on the kinematic viscosity of AVGAS 100LL versus temperature. In particular I wish to find it at temps below ambient.

Has anyone point me to where I might find this?

Thanks!

RE: AVGAS viscosity

Use this link for some WAG type data.

Regarding standards, ASTM D 910 applies to aviation gasolines.  I see no mention of viscosity.  No hits searching IHS for aviation gasoline viscosity.  Searching just gasoline viscosity yields five ASTM standards for automitive engine oils.

As an FYI I can find the viscosity at 20 and 40C on data sheets. Since no other data was available, I used a curve in Chemical Engineers Handbook to predict the viscosity at my lower temperature.

I also need the s.g. at a lower temp so I will post that question now.

RE: AVGAS viscosity

LIQ HC DENSITY @ PRESSURE PSI AND TEMPERATURE F
PRODUCT NAME = GASOLINE
SG60 @ 60 F = 0.741
EXPANSION_COEFF 1/Fº = 0.0005

BULK_MOD = 100000*EXP(1.9947-0.00013427*TF-0.79392/SG60^2-0.002326*TF/SG60^2)

DEN_pcf = 62.4*(SG60-EXPANSION_COEFF *(TF-60))/(1-PSIG/BULK_MOD)

RE: AVGAS viscosity

don't use above 200 F

RE: AVGAS viscosity

You might compare your results to the viscosity calculated using ASTM D341 as found in this spreadsheet here:
http://www.viscoanalyser.com/page8.html
Be interesting to find out how they compare as this spreadsheet uses the ASTM expression for 2cst and over (it gets a bit too complex at lower viscosities).

Thanks for the spreadsheets. They look interesting. I shall see what I can do with them. But my viscosity is about 1cS at 40C so that one will not work.

RE: AVGAS viscosity

That's very high.  Are you sure you have Avgas?

RE: AVGAS viscosity

Hard to believe material data sheets.
