Truss design

(OP)
My career seems to be taking me away from my roots and into new areas (for me). In preparation, does anyone have any suggestions as to any resources and references for truss design?

Many thanks.

Residential roof trusses?

RE: Truss design

If it's residential, most lumber yards can give you a PE stamped truss design and drawings, including how to tie truss to existing structure.

They usually will do it for commercial also.

Good luck!

RE: Truss design

From my personal experience, the greatest resources and references are usually came from within your work place (if you work for someone/a company). Check out a few old designs and cals will benefits you in a long way. Obtain a copy of textbook also helps.

Thanks everyone. I'm actually in talks with a company that specializes in domes and trusses...quite a large scale.

This is an entirely new area for me and while I will be relying primarily on the guidance of the experienced engineers, I'd like to gather as much information as possible on my own, namely through textbooks and published resources.

RE: Truss design

I think you may get involved with large scale of "space truss". Do a search on web, see if you can come up with something useful. Any structural textbook will provide the basic for trusses, including arches.
