Table UW-12

Table UW-12

Table UW-12

(OP)
The joint description for a Type (1) weld in Table UW-12 is "Butt joints as attained by double-welding or by other means which will obtain the same quality of deposited weld metal on the inside and outside weld surfaces to agree with the requirements of UW-35."

What other means are acceptable for this type of weld?

RE: Table UW-12

A single welded butt joint may also meet this criteria if the back side of the weld is inspected.  Also electro-slag (using water filled copper boots) may also also achieve same quality.
